Sports drinks are recommended for individuals who practice between 60 and 90 minutes of high performance physical activity or in a really hot environment. This means that it is not necessary to give sugar to children and add sugar to their diet. This is one of the recommendations of the Middlesex-London Health Unit in Ontairo. Drinking water helps to keep good breath, good oral hygiene, especially when children can't brush their teeth in the middle of the day at school!
Some other suggestions of great importance that might be trivial, but that we must often remember when we are parents are:
- Keep your children hydrated: they should drink water even when they are not thirsty.
- Add frozen fruit to your water to make it taste and refreshing.
- Eat your water: add fruits and vegetables to your diet.
